Wordpress hosting – No wait time and they speak english!
Posted by admin in Where to host wordpress on August 5th, 2009
Anyone who has or runs a web site has probably run into either a problem or had a question for their web site hosting. I know when I was learning how to set up wordpress manually, I put in quite a few calls to my web site hosting company.
Here’s what I would typically ran into:
1. I’d dial the toll free number and be put on hold. (which made me mad)
2. I’d hear the same hold music I’ve heard for the past 7 years! (that old familiar and annoying tune will be playing in hell when I get there)
3. The dog would start looking at me funny..perhaps because he enjoyed the hold music
4. I’d wait 20 minutes
5. Support would pick up but they couldn’t speak english well enough for us to have a conversation
6. I would hang up and repeat steps 1-4 to try and get another person who spoke english
Overall, the experience can be both annoying and frustrating. I kept switching hosting companies until I encountered a company that I did not have these experiences with: Bluehost.com. The company has a very minimal wait time and you can understand them. When you are looking for a company for wordpress hosting you want one who can help you and won’t waste your time. Bluehost is the one I go with.
Create multiple wordpress web sites on the same server

Back in the day making multiple web sites was a pain in the butt for me. Unfortunately I had a hosting company that would either
1. Not allow you to have multiple domain names with my hosting package
2. Allow multiple domain names but the way they set it up on my server, it wouldn’t be search engine friendly (and that was really, really bad)
Needless to say I had multiple hosting accounts and was racking up a lot of money trying to get new web sites up that were geared toward making money. As a developer I flocked to wordpress because it was so easy to use and to set up and configure. Naturally I went looking for a web site that allowed me to have multiple wordpress sites and would be search engine friendly. Well I found this wordpress hosting solution with Bluehost.com.
Since signing up for a Bluehost account in September of last year, I’m currently hosting more than 12 web sites on one server for the affordable cost of $7.99 a month. That’s because I went with the one year plan. If you go with the two year plan, it’s even cheaper. I can’t tell you how pleased I am with the support and service. I’ll be detailing it in this blog soon but I highly recommend getting wordpress hosting throught bluehost.com.
Where to Host Wordpress

So you’ve come to the decision to build out your blog or web site in a wordpress format. The next big step is to find a wordpress hosting company. I’ve been there and done that. Wordpress blogs and websites are getting more and more popular these days. In fact, I attended Wordcamp, a seminar for people who develop in wordpress this past May in Columbus, Ohio. Here are a few of the companies that I’ve used to do wordpress hosting and why I decided to not use them:
1. Readyhosting – they have terrible support and wordpress runs extremely slow on their server (at least in my experiences)
2. Brinkster – Now I had the windows plan but they said it supported wordpress. I wound up leaving them as well because permalinks don’t work on a server that supports both windows and linux. The mod redirects don’t work and this hurts you as far as search engine optimzation.
My former supervisor, Gary Moneysmith, turned me on to bluehost. The company has excellent support (and yes you can understand them) and had great wizard tools that allowed you to easily install wordpress. I’ll detail in other blog posts how to setup wordpress on your own server. But for now you’ll just have to trust me and go with Bluehost for wordpress hosting. They have a very reasonable rate and you can host mulitple domains on their server.
